Drive to Les Collons

 

The Channel Tunnel and excellent motorway routes eastwards across France make driving to Switzerland a viable alternative to flying.  

 

From Calais the journey to Sion will take approx 9 hours

 

 

Frequent car ferries also cross the channel from various port in the UK - the main being, Dover to Calais and Hull to Rotterdam or Zeebrugge with:

Several Airlines operate frequent daily direct flights to Geneva (GVA). Lyon (LYS) and Grenoble (GNB) good alternative options. 

Check with the airline which destinations they fly to from your local airport.

The Swiss rail network is dependable and punctual with the timetable efficiently integrated with other forms of transport. The trains are clean and comfortable. (just like ours )

 

 

 

 

 

The most direct rail route from London to Sion is via the Channel Tunnel to Paris Gare du Nord, then via Metro to Gare de Lyon where you can catch the TGV to Lausanne, then IC to Sion. 

 

It is not as cheap, convenient or fast as flying, but certainly the most scenic and relaxing.
